The third Womble story in the series tells how he became so inept with women that he fell for the honey trap in the second story published, Womble and the Honey Trap. In the first story, Womble, we learned how he managed to become a case officer for an unnamed American spy agency after blowing his final test, withstanding a hostile interrogation. In the Honey Trap, the agency put a spin on his ineptitude by giving him a medal for honey trapping the Iranian agent that had honey trapped him. So he became the agency’s purported expert on honey traps and has to give a presentation on them at headquarters. His preparation reminds him of the prom that he went to after graduating high school when asked by his old girlfriend, who was a senior. His misadventures before, at, and after the prom contributed to his ineptness with women. That ineptness continues in the forthcoming Womble and the Bobble Heads, in which he, as the supposed expert on honey traps, is tasked with honey trapping an Iranian nuclear scientist so that the agency can blackmail her to learn about that country’s nuclear program.

As a "baby boomer" who can still remember high school and all of the attached drama of Prom, etc., I really enjoyed this book. It was very funny, combining some of the more entertaining "horrors" of what can happen to a young man or woman who thinks that their high school prom is going to be a defining and wonderful experience - which seldom happens as expected. I know that this author has previously written many legal and technical books, but I am much enjoying his forays into the world of fiction. He writes well with wry humor - definitely makes you feel as though he knows what he is writing about.Product details
